'A Very Royal Scandal', the Amazon Prime Video dramatisation of the Prince Andrew and Emily Maitlis interview premieres today, Thursday 19th September.
Michael Sheen and Ruth Wilson take the leading roles alongside an impressive cast that includes Claire Rushbrook as Andrew's ex-wife Sarah Ferguson and Sofia Oxenham as his youngest daughter Princess Eugenie. The cast are, reports the Radio Times, "unsurprisingly impressive".
The series comes hot on the heels of the Netflix version of the story which aired earlier this year, however this new version takes a different perspective, focusing on the private lives of Emily Maitlis and Prince Andrew, instead of Scoop's focus on producer Sam McAllister who pitched and secured the interview.
The Guardian highlights the humanisation of Andrew through his family as one of the strengths of the new series, "We get to meet Fergie (Claire Rushbrook), loyal and amoral, who describes herself and Andrew as “the happiest divorcees in the world”, and has sent her ex-husband off to his old friend Epstein with “a fucking begging bowl” to settle her many debts" and "If the drama makes an effort to humanise him, it does so through his daughters, Beatrice (Honor Swinton Byrne) and Eugenie (Sofia Oxenham), who by the end appear to if not accept, then at least comprehend the mess their father has made".
The series is available to watch in full now on Prime Video.
