The BBC's long-awaited 3-part thriller 'Crossfire', starring Keeley Hawes, Daniel Ryan and Lee Ingleby, begins tonight, Tuesday 20th September, on BBC One.
The nail-biting drama is set in a luxury hotel resort in the Canary Islands, with Keeley Hawes playing Jo, a guest holidaying with her friends and family at the resort when a gunman starts shooting. Daniel Ryan plays one of the group, Ben, a paramedic who is married to Miriam (played by Josette Simon), Jo's oldest friend and a GP. They are on holiday with their three children. Ben finds himself panicking as Miriam is stuck inside the complex and he's left with the responsibility of looking after the other couples' children.
Listen to Daniel Ryan talking about the series on BBC Morning Live this morning (from 31'20").
The series has already had very positive reviews with iNews describing it as "scary, heart-stopping and banging", The Guardian calls it "propulsive from the off, with plenty of peek-through-your-fingers-moments" and The Telegraph saying it is "heart-in-mouth stuff from the start". TV Times declares it "so nail-biting that you may need a pillow to hide behind".
After tonight's episode, the remaining two episodes will run on consecutive nights across this week with all 3 episodes available straight away on BBC iPlayer.
The series is the TV writing debut from 'Apple Tree Yard' author Louise Doughty and comes from the creators of 'The Salisbury Poisonings' and 'The Responder'.
Daniel Ryan is known for playing DI Tony Manning in ITV's 'The Bay' and will also star in upcoming ITV drama 'Litvinenko'. He is available for voiceovers from Anthea Represents. Click his image for his profile page and voiceover showreel.
