Yasmina Reza’s Olivier and Tony Award-winning play 'God of Carnage' is on now at Hammersmith's Lyric Theatre. The new production stars Dinita Gohil as Annette Raleigh whose 11-year old son gets into a fight in the park with another 11-year old boy, knocking out two of the boy's front teeth. Both sets of parents decide to meet up for a civil conversation to discuss the misdemeanours of their children. However things quickly get out of hand with the parents turning on each other with explosive tantrums, name-calling and tears.
★★★★ "Gohil takes an opposite journey, shifting from softly spoken courtesy to feral, spitting fury. Her attempts to call out the other characters’ dreadful hypocrisy make her the most sympathetic figure in an uproarious farce" (The Stage)
★★★★ "this is an ensemble so exceptional that you’ll struggle to find them putting a single foot wrong...they are a polished, firm quartet of exemplary performers" (All That Dazzles)
★★★ "Deft direction and slick performances" (The Guardian)
★★★ "Joyful, thrilling and punishingly hilarious theatre" with "superb performances" (The Spectator)
The cast also includes Doctor Who's Freema Agyeman, Ariyon Bakare and Martin Hutson.
The play runs at the Lyric in Hammersmith until Saturday 30th September. Tickets available. Watch the preview trailer.
