'Eliza' is a new podcast fiction drama that tells the story of Eliza, the world's first emotional robot, who is owned by 'Him'. When she falls in love with Him he attempts to control her and curtail her freedom. But she lives in a world where the laws regulating robots mean she can't exist without Him. As Eliza gets caught in a web of both loving and abusive relationships, she has to fight to survive. The story forces listeners to confront questions around evolving technology, gender dynamics and coercive control.
Dominique Tipper plays the role of 'Her', alongside a stellar cast including Tanya Reynolds as Eliza and Arthur Darvill as 'Him'.
The 8-part podcast drama series is produced by Crowd Network in association with The Pankhurst Trust (incorporating Manchester Women's Aid), a women-led organisation with the aim of spreading awareness of the realities of domestic abuse and violence against women and girls, and the inequality associated with it.
Eliza was written by breakthrough female writer, Emma Hickman during the first UK lockdown, a period that shone a light on striking statistics and individual stories of violence against women in the UK.
