Emily Taaffe will have a major role in upcoming Channel 4 drama series 'Trespasses' which is due out later in 2025.

The 4-part series is based on the novel of the same name by Louise Kennedy and tells the story of Cushla, a Catholic teacher and Michael, a Protestant solicitor who have a forbidden relationship during the tensions of 1970s Northern Ireland.  Emily plays Betty, whose children attend the Catholic school where Cushla teaches, but who are ostracised at school as their mother is protestant. Things get dramatically worse when Betty's Catholic husband Seamie suffers life-changing injuries when he is attacked by members of the local Protestant community where they live.

The bestselling novel was shortlisted for the Women's Prize for Fiction in 2023 and won the Best Debut Fiction Award in the British Book Awards Book of the Year.  The Channel 4 series will also star Lola Pettigrew as Cushla as well as Gillian Anderson and Barry Ward.

The series is scheduled for release in late 2025.
