Paramount+ has just announced its latest thriller series 'The Doll Factory' which will be produced by Bucaneer, the team behind ITV's hit series 'Marcella'. The series will be based on the Sunday Times bestselling novel of the same name from author Elizabeth Macneal.
The cast has just been revealed and includes Freddy Carter who is famed for his starring role in Netflix's fantasy drama 'Shadow and Bone'. No details of his role have yet been announced.
The series will be set in London in 1850 and tells the story of doll painter Iris and her sister Rose. Iris dreams of becoming an artist and when she meets Louis, a painter and member of the pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, she agrees to model for him in return for him teaching her to paint. In doing so she finds the opportunity to escape to a new life but must abandon her sister, sacrifice her reputation and launch herself into the unknown. But as Iris’s world expands, a story of dark obsession begins to unfold.
Anna Burns, executive producer at Buccaneer, said: “We are so excited about the group of people we’ve brought together for this show...we couldn’t wish for a more talented cast to be bringing to life the characters we love so much".
