A brand new co-production between The National Theatre and Northern Stage opens tomorrow night in London. 'The Other Brontë' is an irreverent re-telling of the lives and legend of English literature's most famous sisters - the Brontës.
Gemma Whelan stars as Charlotte Brontë, alongside Rhiannon Clements as Anne and Adele James as Emily.
The official synopsis reads, "Charlotte Brontë has a confession to make about how one sister became an idol, and the other became known as the third sister. You know the one. No, not that one. The other, other one… Anne. This is not a story about well-behaved women. This is a story about the power of words. It’s about sisters and sisterhood, love and jealousy, support and competition."
'The Other Brontë' runs at The National Theatre's Dorfman Theatre from tomorrow, 27th March until 27th May. Most dates are sold out but there are a few tickets remaining for selected performances. The play then transfers to Northern Stage in Newcastle and runs from 7th to 22nd June. Get tickets.
