The hotly anticipated Stranger Things stage-show spin-off opens tomorrow night, Friday 17th November, in London's West End. It stars a plethora of talented young actors, including Isabella Pappas who will star as Joyce Maldonaldo.
'Stranger Things: The First Shadow' is set in 1959, 24 years before the Netflix show begins, with the synopsis promising it will "take you right back to the beginning of the Stranger Things story – and may hold the key to the end."
It is directed by Tony, Olivier and Emmy winning director Stephen Daldry, who is probably most famous for directing the multiple award winning film and stage productions of Billy Elliot. It is produced by Sonia Friedman Productions and created by Stranger Things creators The Duffer Brothers.
Isabella's character Joyce is one of the main characters in Stranger Things, although viewers of the TV series will know her by her married name of Joyce Bowers, played by Winona Ryder. In the stage show prequel we understand she is desperate to graduate from Hawkins High School and get the hell out of town.
The play will run at the West End's Phoenix Theatre until August 2024, and is rumoured to then hit Broadway. Tickets for the first few weeks of the run are sold out, including tomorrow night's opening show. Limited tickets are available into December, but there is plenty of availability for 2024 so book now.
