John Simm stars as Ebeneezer Scrooge in this year’s annual Old Vic production of ‘A Christmas Carol’ which premieres tomorrow night

John Simm stars as Ebeneezer Scrooge in this year's much anticipated Old Vic Christmas production of 'A Christmas Carol' which opens for previews from tomorrow night, Saturday 9th November. 

The play, based on the classic novel by Dickens, is adapted by Jack Thorne, best known for writing the stage production Harry Potter and the Cursed Child as well as Enola Holmes and His Dark Materials.  The Old Vic stages the play every year and it has become a must-see for many families.

John was interviewed recently about the role and how much he loves both the original book as well as the many stage and screen adaptations over the years, "I've loved this story since I was a kid and so I know the story really well.  I've read the book more than four or five times over my life and I watch it every single year.  There's lots of versions of it...and my favourite one as a kid used to be Albert Finney, the musical one...To play Scrooge is just an honour really."  Watch the interview in full
