Channel 4's much anticipated screen adaptation of best-selling novel 'Queenie' premieres with a double bill tonight at 10pm.
The 2019 novel, written by Candice Carty-Williams has been adapted into an 8-part drama series, with Carty-Williams acting as show runner and exec-producer.
It stars Dionne Brown in the title role, 25 year-old Queenie Jenkins who breaks up with her long-term boyfriend at the start of the story and sees her struggling with new relationships, work and family frictions. The novel was widely touted as the "Black Bridget Jones", but, unlike Bridget Jones, Queenie also explores political themes and the impact of institutional racism.
Michelle Greenidge stars as Aunty Maggie, sister of Queenie's mother who was absent for her childhood. Maggie is a constant in Queenie's life, supporting her through difficult times.
Tom Forbes also has a major role playing Ted, Queenie's co-worker at the Daily Read who strikes up a relationship with her in the middle of her break-up.
The first two episodes premiere tonight at 10pm on Channel 4, with all 8 episodes also available to stream on Channel4.com. It will premiere in the US on Hulu and worldwide on Disney+ on Friday, 7th June.
Michelle Greenidge and Tom Forbes are available for voiceovers from Anthea Represents. Click their images for their profile pages and voiceover showreels.
