New play 'A Good House' opens at London's Royal Court Theatre this Saturday, 11th January, and stars Mimî M Khayisa as Bonolo.
The play is a satirical comedy which is set in a gated community in the quiet suburban town of Stillwater. When a strange shack appears overnight, with no inhabitants, new residents Sihle and Bonolo are called upon to mobilise the community to demolish it.
The official write-up on Bonolo and Sihle reveals "Bonolo’s the kind of woman who doesn’t just speak her mind—she monologues. No sugar-coating and with a low tolerance for BS. She’s married to Sihle, the human embodiment of ‘let’s keep the peace’ with a side of financial security. While she’s calling out their neighbours' casual prejudice, he’s plotting an escape route through the bushes. They make it work - just don’t ask them about their neighbours."
Written by Amy Jephta, the play is described as "a thrilling and comedic new work...about a couple who discover the limits of good neighbourliness and what is required to fit in". It is a co-production with Bristol Old Vic in association with The Market Theatre, Johannesburg, South Africa.
Tickets are still available. Until Saturday 8th February.
