Celebrated director Richard Eyre's new play 'The Snail House' has opened at the Hampstead Theatre.
The play tells the story of Sir Neil Marriot, known to millions as the Government's medical advisor during the pandemic, and earning himself a knighthood in the process. However his life takes a sinister turn when he throws himself a lavish birthday party at which his family are at each others throats again, and one of the catering staff looks eerily familiar....
Eva Pope plays Sir Neil's long-suffering wife Val in a performance praised by WhatsOnStage who says, "it is the marvellous Eva Pope as Marriott's long-suffering wife Val who emerges the victor, ablaze with unapologetic candour".
TheReviewsHub goes even further in their praise, singling out her character Val as, "most interest of all, just who is Val – the former nurse, turned PA who ignores Neil’s affairs and has the greatest moment in this play when she berates the lot of them for constantly believing they are so clever. Val is amazing. Val needs her own play."
The play is written and directed by celebrated director Richard Eyre, who was Artistic Director of the National Theatre from 1988 to 1997. It is his first completely original play.
The play runs from Wednesday 7th September until Saturday 15th October. Tickets available now.
