The Lightest Element is a brand new play which premieres tonight, 5th September, at London's Hampstead Theatre.
The play, by Stella Fehily is set in 1950s Boston and tells the incredible story of Cecilia Payne-Gaposchkin, one of the most eminent astronomers of the twentieth century and the first female professor at Harvard. The play teaches us about her ground-breaking discovery that stars are made from hydrogen whilst unveiling the prejudices that stood in her way.
Steffan Cennydd stars as journalist Norman, a passionate anti-communist, who makes it his mission to expose Payne-Gaposchkin as a supposed communist sympathiser (her husband was Russian) and prevent her becoming Chair of the Department of Astronomy, using his student girlfriend Sally to launch a covert investigation. He also plays Harvard's Professor Varney.
The play is on until 12th October. Book tickets.
Steffan Cennydd is available for voiceovers from Anthea Represents. Click his image for his profile page and voiceover showreel.
