Based on a true story, The Colour Room follows the journey of a determined, working-class woman, Clarice Cliff, played by Phoebe Dynevor in her first feature film role. Cliff was a renowned ceramic artist who, despite the barriers facing women, broke the glass ceiling and revolutionised the workplace in the 20th century and rose to become an icon. David Morrissey stars as renowned art designer Fred Ridgeway, who took her under his wing on as an apprentice and helped her to achieve her ambitions.
The film is set in the industrial Midlands potteries in the 1920s and was mainly filmed in and around Stoke on Trent.
