The third and final series of Derry Girls premieres on Channel 4 tonight featuring Emmett J. Scanlan as new character 'Madstab'

The 3rd and final season of Derry Girls starts tonight, Tuesday 12th April, at 9.15pm on Channel 4 and All 4. Irish actor and star of Peaky Blinders Emmett J. Scanlan will appear as new character 'Madstab' in the Northern Irish sitcom about a group of working class teenagers during The Troubles.

The new 6-episode series sees the girls hoping to win an Oscar for their short film about life in Derry during The Troubles.  The new series is set against a backdrop of the 1998 peace negotiations with character Michelle (Jamie-Lee O'Donnell) hilariously pronouncing “Urgh, I am so fucking sick of peace, It’s all anyone ever bangs on about”.

Emmett described his delight at landing a role in the show saying, "Derry Girls is not unlike Peaky Blinders; it’s bucket-list stuff and to be able to team back up with Lisa McGee, who I worked with on The Deceived, is wonderful".
