Tuwaine Barrett to star in new 6-part BBC comedy series The Witchfinder, starting tomorrow night

The first episode of the new show will premiere on BBC Two on Tuesday 8th March at 10pm, with all episodes also available on iPlayer.  The series stars Tim Kay as a failing witchfinder who travels to a 17th Century village in East Anglia.  Desperate to find a witch, he captures an uncouth local woman accused of killing a pig who he accuses of sorcery, played by Daisy May Cooper.

Tuwaine Barrett stars as Cumberlidge, the loyal assistant to a rival Witchhunter named Hebble.  Hebble is utterly bent and doesn't actually believe in witches, he just wants to make a profit. Cumberlidge is utterly smitten by his master and does all his dirty work.  However when things start to get out of hand, he is determined to put things right, even if it means betraying his beloved master.

Karl Theobald also makes an appearance in Episode 5 as a fake John Stearne, the partner of fake Matthew Hopkins.

The series has been written and directed by Alan Partridge writers Neil Gibbons and Rob Gibbons.
