Jessye is an actress and writer born and raised in London. She gained attention by winning Best Actress at the 2020 British Independent Film Festival for her lead role in ‘Lucky Break’ (BAFTA nominated for Best British Short 2021).
She starred as Robyn Loxley, the lead in TV drama series 'Robyn Hood' for Canadian broadcaster Global TV, which re-imagined the legendary English hero as a young, black female, American Gen Zer who leads her anti-authoritarian masked hip-hop band, The Hood to fight for freedom and equality in the city of New Nottingham.
Most recently she had a major role in 2024 Netflix film 'The Beautiful Game', playing Ellie, the ex-partner of Micheal Ward's character Vinny. The film, about the homeless World Cup, also starred Bill Nighy.
She had a leading role in Season Two of the Warner Horizon/Epix action drama TV series ‘Pennyworth’, and played Sophie Carrington in the ITV crime drama series 'Grace'. She also had a major role in the Sky dystopian action drama series ‘Curfew’ starring Sean Bean & Billy Zane and had a role in Idris Elba’s TV comedy series ‘In the Long Run’.
She wrote, co-produced and starred in a short film “Echinacea” that debuted at the London Short Film Festival 2021, which won an honourable mention for ‘Best Women Short’ at the 2020 Independent Short Awards.
She has audio book experience, narrating ‘If I Don’t Have You’ for Audible as well as narrating ‘Meghan and Harry: A Royal Baby Story’ for Discovery/TLC.
Jessye naturally has a neutral/RP accent and uses a London accent a lot in her acting work. She also has a very good American accent (as used in Robyn Hood) and having spent much of her childhood on Antigua she is very comfortable with an Antiguan, or warm Caribbean accent.
