Crime drama series 'The One That Got Away' debuts tomorrow night, 24th February, at 9.10pm on BBC Wales and simultaneously on BBC iPlayer across the rest of the UK. It will also premiere on BBC Four on 1st March.
The 6-part drama stars Elen Rhys and Richard Harrington as ex-lovers DI Ffion Lloyd and DS Rick Sheldon who reunite to solve the shocking murder of a nurse in a small Pembrokeshire town. When it appears that the killing is linked to the historic Heart Knot murders from 12 years before, they enter into a race against time before the killer strikes again.
Described as an "emotionally charged and psychologically driven thriller which twists and turns towards a heart-stopping finale", the official synopsis also goes on to reveal ""Ffion and Rick will become our guiding light despite their flaws. Their passion and chemistry will reignite until an explosive secret jeopardises not only their rekindled relationship but Rick’s integrity, reputation and career. In the shadow of death, Cleddau/ The One That Got Away is also a forensic examination of a love affair that may have ended but remains raw and unresolved."
★★★★ “an irresistible treat for thriller fans...a great psychological drama attached to a cracking crime thriller. Or a cracking crime thriller attached to a great psychological drama; I am not sure. Either way, it’s a supremely satisfying treat. Don’t – I think I am contractually obliged to say this – let it get away.” - The Guardian
The series is the English version of Welsh-speaking crime drama series 'Cleddau' which premiered on S4C in 2024. The two versions were filmed at the same time in Welsh and English. It was filmed on location on the Pembrokeshire coast in west Wales and south Wales.
