Emma Appleton is a rising star of British film and television.  She is particularly known for her much-loved performance playing Maggie in the BBC adaptation of Dolly Alderton’s ‘Everything I Know About Love’ in 2022, but also has a wealth of other impressive credits to her name. 

Her first lead role came in 2019 when she was cast as Feef Symonds, a young English aristocrat, recruited to be an American spy, in Channel 4 spy drama series ‘Traitors’, set in post-war Britain and also starring Keeley Hawes. 

This was followed by roles in Netflix fantasy drama series ‘The Witcher’, Sky One sci-fi series ‘Intergalactic’ and playing Nancy Spungen, the girlfriend of Sid Vicious, in Hulu’s Sex Pistols biopic ‘Pistol’.  In 2021 she made her feature film debut in romantic drama ‘The Last Letter from your Lover’, which starred Callum Turner. 

2022 saw her star in the aforementioned and hugely popular series ‘Everything I Know About Love’ which aired on BBC One and saw her playing the leading role of Maggie.  The series followed Maggie and her 3 best friends as they navigate their 20s and the highs and lows of dating and friendship, based on the bestselling memoir by Dolly Alderton.  

In the same year she also starred as the lead in critically-acclaimed independent film ‘Lola’, which won a number of awards on the independent film circuit. 

More recently she starred in the 2023 Paramount+ legal thriller film ‘The Killing Kind’, playing a barrister who defends a man against stalking charges, only for him to turn on her, and 2024 horror film ‘The Severed Sun’. At the end of 2024 she played the lead in the 6-part Paramount+ romantic comedy ‘The Road Trip’.

Additional credits include BBC Three thriller series ‘Clique’, Channel 4 comedy-drama ‘The End of the F***ing World’, ITV detective drama Grantchester and the second series of National Geographic anthology series ‘Genius’, which starred Antonio Banderas as Picasso. 

Emma is from Oxfordshire and speaks with a neutral accent. She is confident with her accent range and has a particularly strong American and French.
