Stuart Martin is a leading Scottish actor, recognised for his extensive and varied roles in worldwide hit TV shows and films including the hugely popular Alibi/PBS Victorian crime drama series ‘Miss Scarlet and the Duke’ in which he played the co-lead ‘The Duke’ of Wellington in the first 4 series.

He is also known for his starring role in the Sky One period drama series ‘Jamestown’, set in the 17th Century when the first British settlers arrived in Virginia, playing the brave and charming Silas Sharrow.  The show ran for 3 seasons from 2017-2018.

Other major TV roles include starring as Tony in the much-loved 2014 Channel 4 comedy crime drama series ‘Babylon’, set within the Met Police, opposite James Nesbitt and Nicola Walker; and in 2016 playing the leading role of Lorenzo de Medici in the first series of Netflix’s Renaissance drama ‘Medici’, starring opposite Richard Madden. In 2024 he can be heard as the voice of warrior King Leif in Netflix animation series 'Twilight of the Gods', directed by Zack Snyder with music by Hans Zimmer.

Film highlights include a role in the award winning, critically acclaimed 2018 British film ‘Only You’ which won The Critics’ Award at the 30th Dinard Film Festival, two BIFA Awards, a Writers' Guild Award and was nominated for a BAFTA and a Scottish BAFTA.  He also had a leading role in both films in the epic Netflix ‘Rebel Moon’ series directed by Zack Snyder, ‘A Child of Fire’(2023) and ‘The Scargiver’ (2024) in which he played Den.  In 2022 he starred as Kurjak in Netflix vampire movie ‘Dampyr’ as well as 2021 heist comedy ‘Army of Thieves’, also for Netflix.

Other notable TV credits include a leading role playing Luke Wilkinson in the third series (2015) of NBC/Amazon Prime crime drama ‘Crossing Lines’ which starred Donald Sutherland, and Britbox’s 2021 TV adaptation of Irvine Welsh's ‘Crime’.

He has a number of video game credits to his name including Anthem, Assassins Creed, The Order 1886 and Far Cry 3.

Stuart hails from Ayr, Burns country, on the West Coast of Scotland, an hour south of Glasgow.  He speaks with a native Scottish accent, which is softer than a traditional Glaswegian accent and could feasibly be from either the Highlands, Islands, East or West Coast.   He regularly uses a neutral accent in his work and is also skilled in Yorkshire (Jamestown), English (Medici & Crossing Lines) and American (Army of Thieves).

He studied drama at the prestigious Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
