Stephen Campbell Moore stars as real-life police officer Tony Lundy in Series 2 of BBC One crime drama ’The Gold’ which starts on Sunday night

The second series of true-crime drama 'The Gold' starts on Sunday 8th June at 9pm on BBC One.  The 6-part series continues to follow events following the infamous 1980s Brinks-Mat robbery, with a depleted investigation team trying to track down the other half of the gold and bring the remaining perpetrators to justice.

Key cast members from the first series return, including Hugh Bonneville as lead detective Brian Boyce, and Jack Lowden and Tom Cullen as criminals Kenneth Noye and John Palmer.  Stephen Campbell Moore joins the cast as real-life police officer Tony Lundy, a maverick copper who his colleagues suspect is bent and whose unorthodox approach brings friction to Boyce's team.

In a recent interview Stephen talked about his character saying, "Tony Lundy is a real person and he has, what seems to be to the audience, a slightly checkered past...he doesn’t take anything too seriously on the surface but actually he’s incredibly focused on getting his man. When we first see him, he talks about the lone ranger and for me that seems to be a template for him. He’s an old school guy. He sees himself as a hero trying to get the villain and at base that’s always what he is trying to do. It’s about people, it’s not necessarily about money."

He went on to talk about Tony's relationship with the rest of the investigative team saying, "As they develop and they get a working relationship, there is mutual respect and there’s actually quite a lot of humour between them as well. I know that deep down with Boyce he’s extremely grateful for the opportunity he’s been given."
