Nick is a BAFTA nominated and British Comedy Award winning writer, broadcaster, actor and comedian known for his hilarious one liners, poems, songs and stories.

He is probably best known for his starring role in BBC Three’s 3-season comedy ‘Uncle’ for which he was nominated for a Royal Television Society Award in 2016 for Best Comedy Performance.  He also starred as ‘Lemon’ alongside Romesh Ranganathan in Sky’s ‘The Reluctant Landlord’ in 2018. In 2017 he starred as ‘Watto’ in Channel 4’s comedy hit ‘Loaded’ about four friends who become multi-millionaires overnight.  He also hosted his own comedy show on BBC Three, ‘Nick Helm's Heavy Entertainment’ in 2015.

His latest UK Tour 'Super Fun Good Time Show' is his biggest yet, taking in 37 locations across 4 months in 2024, including London, Brighton, Manchester, Glasgow and Newcastle.

In 2022 voiced a documentary for Britbox, in association with the BFI, telling the story of British film.  'Reel Britannia' is a 4-part series which looks at the masterpieces of British cinema and includes interviews with some of Britain's greatest ever film-makers including Ken Loach, Mike Leigh and Terry Gillam.

Also in 2022 he starred as band manager Mark in 'Love Spreads', a comedy about a fictional female rock band 'Glass Hearts'.  The film premiered at 2021's TriBeca Film Festival.

He is regularly on tour and has taken a number of shows to the Edinburgh Festival.  His 2022 "insightful...honest and very funny" Festival show 'What Have We Become' was also streamed at PictureHouse cinemas. “Still laughing today…how difficult it must be to produce that sort of intensity and not miss a beat. Real talent” said one fan on Twitter following the show. 'What Have We Become' then commenced a UK tour around the country taking in venues in cities including London, Birmingham and Manchester.

At the previous Festival (2019) he performed two shows; a solo show ‘Phoenix From The Flames’ and his spooky musical ‘I Think, You Stink!' which also had a two-week run at the Soho Theatre in November 2021.

Also in 2021 he appeared in the feature films ‘Giddy Stratospheres’ and ‘Venice at Dawn’.  And he appeared in series 2 of 'Intelligence', the Sky One hit comedy series from David Schwimmer & Nick Mohammed. He had a role in series 2 of the hilarious BBC One Wales comedy mockumentary ‘Tourist Trap’ which stars Sally Phillips trying to sell Wales as a tourist destination to the world.

Nick directed, starred in and co-wrote ‘Elephant’; a BBC online short film as part of the ‘Funny Valentines’ series on BBC iPlayer. The short was so successful that the BBC extended its availability online and it was subsequently selected to be screened at the BFI's London Film Festival 2015. The film was then nominated for a BAFTA for Best British Short Film.

‘The Girl In The Dress’, a short starring Nick, was also selected by BFI for the 2015 London Film Festival.

Nick also filmed and starred in his own food travelogue show, ‘Eat Your Heart Out with Nick Helm’, which launched on Dave in 2017 to critical acclaim.  He appears regularly on ‘8 Out of 10 Cats’ and '8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown' and has also had appearances in 'Celebrity Mastermind' and 'The Crystal Maze'.

Nick has won numerous comedy awards throughout his career including the 2014 South Bank Sky Arts Award, The 2014 Times Breakthrough Award as well as Best Breakthrough Act at the 2014 British Comedy Awards.  In 2015 he won Best Music and Variety Artist at the Chortle Awards.

He has released two albums ‘Hot ‘n’ Heavy’ and ‘Nick Helm is F*cking Amazing’, with the latter receiving a large album launch at The O2 Forum in Spring 2016.

Nick has a fairly neutral accent with regional influences. He is from London & has also lived up North meaning he flattens his vowels. He could be perceived as having a Northern edge.
