Cyril’s career spans the last 4 decades and he has appeared in many iconic TV shows, including 4 years playing Superintendent Adam Okaro in ITV’s The Bill. Appearances in other major shows include This Life, Eastenders, Waking the Dead and Law & Order: UK.

In 2023 he stars as Lord Danbury in the Shondaland/Netflix Bridgerton spin-off 'Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story'. 

He had a recurring role in Series One of Sky’s Original drama ‘Devils’ as well as a part in ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’. BAFTA nominated him Best Supporting Actor for his performance in ‘Cucumber’ on Channel 4 in 2016.  He also had a role in the 2019 sequel to the classic 90s movie 'Backdraft' and in the new HBO film version of the Roald Dahl classic story 'The Witches' in 2020. In 2018 he had a major part in critically acclaimed and award winning indie film 'Jellyfish'. 

In 2023 he stars in the Young Vic's production of 'Further than the Furthest Thing', set on a remote island in the Atlantic in a community which has lived undisturbed for centuries. He played Bill, the island's Minister. Other stage highlights include roles in ‘Oxford Street’ at the Royal Court, the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Hamlet in Stratford upon Avon and recently in the National Theatre’s hugely successful production of 'The Barbershop Chronicles'. In late 2021 he starred in 'Trouble in Mind', playwright Alice Childress's masterpiece about racial inequality in 1950s, at The National Theatre.

He is the voice of Hyena in CBeebies Tinga Tinga Tales.

His native accent is Neutral/RP & he's experienced with a Nigerian & Southern State American accents.
